About the Role

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Vice President of Real Estate Finance to lead our finance team and oversee the financial strategy and operations of our real estate portfolio in Montreal. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing capital allocation, managing financial risks, and driving profitability and growth across our property investments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA or CFA designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in real estate finance, investment banking, or private equity, with a focus on commercial and residential properties.

  • Proven track record of successfully structuring and executing complex real estate transactions, including acquisitions, developments, and financings.

  • Strong financial modeling and analysis skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and the ability to drive performance and innovation in a dynamic and competitive market environment.

  • Knowledge of Quebec's real estate market, regulatory framework, and financing landscape is an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the financial strategy for Woodland Capital's real estate portfolio, including investment analysis, financing structures, and capital allocation decisions.

  • Oversee the financial planning and budgeting process for property acquisitions, developments, and operations, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market dynamics.

  • Lead the evaluation and due diligence process for potential real estate investments, including financial modeling, market research, and risk analysis, to assess investment viability and optimize returns.

  • Structure and negotiate financing arrangements for property acquisitions, developments, and refinancing activities, including debt financing, equity partnerships, and joint ventures, to optimize capital structure and mitigate financial risks.

  • Manage relationships with financial institutions, investors, and other stakeholders, negotiating favorable terms and maintaining a strong network of capital providers to support Woodland Capital's growth objectives.

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance metrics for the real estate portfolio, including revenue generation, expense management, and asset valuation, and implement strategies to maximize profitability and asset value appreciation.

  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the finance team, including mentoring and development opportunities to foster a high-performing and collaborative work environment.

  • Stay abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and industry best practices in real estate finance, and provide insights and recommendations to senior management to inform decision-making and mitigate risks.
